Colin has close to 25 years experience working in the Information and communications industries. He has worked in various specialist as well as managerial roles within communication service providers, vendors as well as research and social impact organisations.
Colin’s Functional area experience includes technical & commercial product management & development, project/programme management, business development as well as general management.
Colin managed, for a period of 5 years, a team of product managers and specialists at a leading MNO in South Africa to define, develop and launch more than 50 new mobile products and product enhancements including 3G, Blackberry, Operator Content portal, Hybrid packages and MMS.
Colin worked with a leading global consulting firm to implement a best of breed product development and lifecycle management process while working for a leading MNO in South Africa.
Colin was the Country Manager, programme manging the implementation of a Mobile portal solution at a leading MNO in South Africa.
Colin formed part of the core project implementation team that launched a green fields MNO for a leading telecoms operator in South Africa, His responsibilities included supporting the team of product managers to define the required portfolio of voice, data, messaging and Value Added Services as well as assisting with the definition of associated Fulfilment, Assurance and Billing processes as well as working with the internal as well as supplier implementation teams to ensure correct product implementation.
Colin filled the positon of COO at a leading Social Impact Organisation where he lead a team of social impact specialists & engineers developing, implementing & operating various mobile solutions for social good. He also worked with a leading South African research organisation on the design, development & implementation of their Mobi4D mobile service delivery platform and associated processes.
Colin formed part of the core project team of a leading global IST solution provider that worked on a Business Support System transformation project for a Pan African MNO group.
Colin worked with a leading bank in South Africa on the design and implementation of its MVNO initiative. His primary responsibilities included assisting in development of products & services strategy & offering, programme managing all interactions and work streams with regards to host MNO development & integration and contributing to the development of Fulfilment, Assurance and Billing processes.
Colin programme managed the Network Operator API implementation at a leading MNO in South Africa.
Colin assisted a leading MNO in Malawi with their strategy, product management and go to market activities for their 4.5G and IMS based services launch. He also assisted the team in the definition of various business processes using the eTOM framework.
Colin was a core team member & project manager on a Agriculture MVNO project. He worked with the customer and his responsibilities included assisting with completion of products & services strategy & MVNO business case as well as the definition of business processes and the management of vendor procurement processes.
Colin was responsible for technical product management while working as a Value Added Services Engineer at a leading MNO in South Africa. Projects he worked on included the implementation of MMS, USSD, SIM based Mobile banking and browsing solution, Unified Messaging and the implementation of a multi channel mobile content delivery platform.
Colin has extensive experience in the drafting of product development and management processes, procedures and templates including product roadmaps, product definition documents and go to market plans.
Colin worked for the incumbent PSTN in South Africa for a period of 6 years. During his tenure, positions he held included core switching network specialist as well as Technical Product manager in the large business solutions division.
